1. You can utter the plant to consume less water and to save water for other purposes. Another benefit is to plant crops were you don't have to till. Also that you can plant in case of a drought.

2. One risk is altering a plant to create a "supper weed". Also you could genetically change the plant to create offspring but than you would be cutting down on diversity.

3. The benefits are not worth the risks because there are so many problems that could potentially create other super plants. This is because the chemicals could leak out of the plants and into the water that you use to water the other plants that you have.
